“You don’t know who is important to you until you actually lose them.” – Mahatma Gandhi
It’s such a simple quote, but it’s so, so true. You really don’t know how much somebody means to you until they’re gone. I’ve lost a couple of friends over the years, and during the grieving process I kept thinking about all of the times I’d taken them for granted – I’d cancelled meeting up with them in favour of lazing at home, I’d bicker with them over tiny things. I wasn’t the best friend that I could be, and it was only because I lost them that I realised it. I’m sure I’m not the only person to think this way.
Losing loved ones has taught me to treasure those I consider dear to me and to make the effort to express how much they mean to me. It’s given me a really positive outlook on life. 🙂
